CHANDIGARH:Udayan Bhakar blanked Vinay Singh 9-0 to move into the second round of the men’s qualifiers on the opening day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship here today.

Udayan Bhakar blanked Vinay Singh 9-0 to move into the second round of the men’s qualifiers on the opening day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship here today. 

Ranjeet Singh outplayed Kavish Kathuria 9-3, while Ayush Mintri drubbed Gajendra Chaudhary 9-1. Nikhilesh Kanojia also moved ahead after beating Abhay Dixit 9-5. 

Kavish Kathuria overpowered Sajendra Singh 9-4, while Calvin Golmei registered a 9-3 win over Vakul Nath.

In the women’s category, CLTA trainee Prinkle Singh moved into second round after posting a 9-0 win over Mitali Singh 9-0. 

Alisha Menon outplayed Priyanka 9-0, while Sharmeen Rizvi overcame Prabhneet Saron 9-7. Snehal Mane edged past Vinny Lamba 9-1. 

The second round matches were in progress till the filing of this report.  The final qualifying round in both men’s and women’s categories will be played on Sunday.
