UT, Chandigarh Club to hold joint survey

CHANDIGARH: UT officials and the Chandigarh Club will carry out a joint survey of the land under the occupation of the management of the club before finalising the lease deed.

Chandigarh, October 23

UT officials and the Chandigarh Club will carry out a joint survey of the land under the occupation of the management of the club before finalising the lease deed.

The decision to carry out the fresh inspection has been taken during the maiden meeting of the committee formed under the chairmanship of Finance Secretary Ajoy Kumar Sinha to revise the lease deed of the club, which had expired in 2010.

The issue of the lease deed, which has been pending for seven years now, was discussed and it was decided to calculate the lease deed on the basis of the fresh survey which will identify the exact details of the land under the possession of the club.

Former president of the club Mukesh Bassi said involving club members in the process of finalising the deed was welcomed by the Administration. He said they had provided all information as desired by the chairman of the committee. The club, which is spreading over more than 8 acres, has approximately 8,000 members. The lease was last revised for five years in 2005 and the lease money enhanced from Rs 8,000 to Rs 1.08 lakh per month. Then, the Chandigarh Club had paid arrears to the tune of Rs 1 crore. —TNS
