A day after facing problems due to flooding of roads following heavy rain, Sector 19 residents here were deprived of drinking water supply for two hours.

The problem began when workers engaged by a private company, on the permission of the local Municipal Corporation, were laying underground cables and unintentionally broke the water pipeline.

The pipeline supplied drinking water in the area. Following the incident, the water supply to the area was affected for two hours. Meanwhile, the water spilled out on the road near the spot.

Old Housing Board Colony in Sector 19 was among the most affected. Residents rued that due to negligence of the department concerned, they had to face a tough time.

“The authorities must carry out a survey before laying any pipeline so that necessary services are not affected,” said residents who had gathered at the spot.

The water supply was restored after the pipeline was repaired.
