Panchkula, July 17

While fleeing, the vehicle of the alleged assailants of NSUI activists turned turtle in Panchkula. They escaped but left behind two pistols in the vehicle. The UT police were chasing them when the assailants lost control over the vehicle near Gymkhana Club, Sector 1, Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula.

A senior Panchkula police official said ABVP stickers were pasted on the Fortuner. Some stickers and posters were also inside the vehicle. The police are on the lookout for the accused, believed to be four, he said.

Eyewitness account

An eyewitness, Baljeet Singh, an auto driver and resident of Saketri village, said there were four persons in the vehicle, who ran towards the forest area after the accident. Around 30 minutes after the accident, he again saw two youths, including one wearing a turban, standing close to the accident site. They took some pistols from the car before fleeing. — TNS
