Youth arrested for vehicle thefts

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Police have arrested a youth for vehicle thefts and recovered a total of 14 two-wheelers from his possession.

The Chandigarh Police have arrested a youth for vehicle thefts and recovered a total of 14 two-wheelers from his possession.

DSP (East) Satish Kumar said the accused, identified as 19-year-old Shankar, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Mani Majra, was arrested on a secret information by a team of the Mani Majra police station led by Inspector Ranjit Singh.

The police said they had information that Shankar was involved in vehicle thefts following which a naka was laid near the BSNL turn in Mani Majra and the accused was apprehended on July 11.

The police said out of 14 two-wheelers, 11 were motorcycles while three were Activa scooters.

The police claimed that while three vehicles were stolen from the area of the Mani Majra police station, one was stolen from Panchkula.

“We are investigating as where the remaining 10 vehicles were stolen from,” said a police official.

The police said out of 14 two-wheelers, 11 were motorcycles while three were Activa scooters. The police claimed that while three vehicles were stolen from the area of Mani Majra police station, one was stolen from Panchkula.

Juvenile apprehended

A juvenile was also apprehended by a team of the Mani Majra police station for stealing a motorcycle from Pipli Wala town, Mani Majra.
