Delhi Dialogue: AAP to discuss water, power

In the next round of its Delhi Dialogue, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will share its further plans related to two of its pet issues of electricity and water on December 13. The party has already declared a 50 per cent slash in electricity tariff up to 400 units per month for households in Delhi.

In the next round of its Delhi Dialogue, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will share its further plans related to two of its pet issues of electricity and water on December 13. The party has already declared a 50 per cent slash in electricity tariff up to 400 units per month for households in Delhi.

The conclusions of Delhi Dialogue will help in finalising the party manifesto for the coming assembly elections, said the Delhi Dialogue team led by party leaders Ashish Khaitan and Meera Sanyal here today while adding that after youth and women dialogues, six more phases of such public engagement programme will take place and it will conclude on January 18.

Besides power and water, the AAP will hold dialogues on rural issues on December 27, health and education December 28, traders issues January 4, 2015, Lokpal and transparency in governance January 11 and traffic, parking and public transport issues on January 18.

"The 'Bijli-Paani Dialogue' will witness the party's vision based on public conversation on how to solve energy, electricity and water crisis in Delhi. Our teams have already begun the engagement with different experts in the field of renewable energy, power grid companies, government and private undertakings in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity," they said.

The party is in process of brainstorming water management and rainwater harvesting and also holding meetings with the Delhi Jal Board, and other stakeholders on issues related to water like drainage, sanitation and waste management.

"The party is committed to provide access to basic energy needs to all 1.7 crore citizens of Delhi. Electricity rates will be cut by 50 per cent up to 400 units till the audit of the private power distribution companies by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is completed," they said while adding that the findings of the CAG audit will lead to a drastic cut in electricity tariffs in Delhi.
