A major fire broke out at Bhagirath Palace in Chandni Chowk this afternoon, said an official of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Around 13 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was doused by 4 pm, said DFS official.

No reports of any injuries or casualties have been received. The exact cause of blaze during the preliminary enquiry was a short circuit, he said.

Factory gutted in Bawana

Another incident of fire was reported from Bawana where an auto frame manufacturing factory gutted in fire.

The incident reported at 5 am. According to another DFS official, no one was in the factory at the time of the fire and the flame was doused in one hour.

The reason of the fire is still not ascertained, said the official.

No causality was reported from the Bawana factory fire. The police are investigating the reason of the fire, said a police official.

Only two month ago, 17 persons were killed in a blaze in a cracker manufacturing unit in Bawana. Hundreds of factories in Bawana are sitting ducks when it comes to fire. Many of these factories operate illegally and have little arrangements to deal with a blaze which are frequent occurrences here.
