An ambitious plan of the Delhi police to make women safe in the city has failed once again. Because women are not taking interest in “Himmat” app an initiative of the Delhi Police. Situation is such that in 2016 around 45 complaints have come on the app. While in 2015, when the app was launched, received 200 complaints.

It is to be noted that Delhi women have used this app to the minimum possible level.

The information was released on the bases of an RTI filed by Ved Prakash, a resident of Aaya Nagar, South Delhi.

Ved Prakash said that in some of the areas the women said that the police, instead of helping them, ask terrible questions which can’t be answered. That is why the Himmat app could not succeed.

According to the police, initially 6,000 people downloaded the app. The police received 3,416 complaints through the app, but only 46 complaints could be found true, most of the women having downloaded the app just to see whether it is working or not.

In past three years only 2,870 complaints were filed. In 2014 1,466, 2015 933 and in 2016 near about 500 women had asked for the help through the app.

On the contrary two lakhs of calls have been registered in last one year in the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) helpline more than. This is because the DCW assistance has made a record in solving issues.
