Chandigarh, February 11

UT Vigilance sleuths have arrested two persons for allegedly trying to get a vehicle registered on a fake address in the city. The arrests have once again pointed towards the alleged nexus between touts and staff at the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA). The duo was arrested yesterday and produced in the court today.

Maneesh Chaudhary, SSP (Vigilance), said sleuths came across two persons who had applied for a registration certificate on a fake address. “One of them is a resident of Punjab, but he produced documents with a local address to get his car registered in the city,” the SSP said.

The sleuths physically verified the address and found that nobody stayed there. The sleuths said the other person arrested in the case appeared to be a tout, who was facilitating him in getting the vehicle registered.
