24 from state to attend national Paralympic c’ship

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat flagged off the 24-member team of Paralympic players of the state at Vidhan Sabha today. He wished them good luck for the upcoming national para-athletic championship in Rajasthan, slated to begin on March 31.

The Paralympic Committee of India will organise 17th National Para Athletics Championship in Rajasthan from March 31 to April 4. The Paralympic Association of Uttarakhand has selected its team of 24 players for the championship, said association secretary Prem Kumar at a press conference here today.

Prem Kumar said, “Till now, our athletes have given good performance in most of the events. We hope them to repeat that. We expect better support for the growth of paralympic from the newly-elected BJP government in the state.”

Players who will represent Uttarakhand in the championship are Kasim Ali, Jagat Singh, Ajay Kumar, Riyasat Ali, Balwant Singh, Kamlesh Kumar, Deepak, Ajay Bodai, Rajat, Ashwani, Sandeep, Yogesh, Satya Prakash, Anil Rana, Rajendra Bhatt, Bharat Kumar, Varun Jain, Rajendra Singh, Ravi, Ashish, Jayveer, Nirmala, Harish and Ritesh Diwedi.

The players are confident of excelling in the 17th National Para Athletics Championship. They said they will give their best to clinch medals and bring laurels to the state.
