Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma today took on BJP ministers and legislators for not objecting to the statement of the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, on giving compensation to the kin of stone-throwers who died during the unrest.

He expressed surprise that these BJP ministers, including the Deputy Chief Minister, who was in the House at that time, instead appreciated Veeri’s statement by thumping desks.

Veeri had yesterday ridiculed the resolution of the BJP state working committee of objecting to the decision and had said that whatever had been said in the House by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was supreme.

Sharma said for the lust of power, BJP ministers and legislators had succumbed before PDP’s ‘anti-national’ policies. “By supporting this move of the government, it is clear that the BJP is in hand in glove with the government on all these issues. The Deputy CM had given a statement regarding the killing of militant Burhan Wani that his death was accidental which is unbecoming from a party which considers itself a nationalist outfit,” he added.

Sharma said the present alliance was dominated by the PDP as whatever decision it took, the BJP had to abide by the same whether it was in the interest of the Jammu region or otherwise. He said the BJP used to consider itself pro-Jammu but this had proved be a hoax because they had failed to live up to the expectations of the people of the Jammu region.

Sharma said the people of Jammu must know the real face of the BJP and teach it a lesson as and when they got an opportunity.
