Members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a demonstration at the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) office here today against its decision to allow the construction of buildings up to the height of 30 metre.

The protesters alleged the decision had been taken to favour certain builders at the cost of people’s life. He said the state comes under the earthquake-prone zone and high-rise buildings would cause immense devastation in case of a disaster. Earlier, the protesters raised slogans against the MDDA.

City president of the BJYM Vipin Rana said there was no need of increasing the height of buildings from 21 m to 30 m. It would be unsafe for residents.. He threatened to intensify the agitation if the decision was not withdrawn.
