The administration has put in place elaborate security arrangements in view of the call given by certain Jat orgnaisation(s) for a fresh quota stir.

While joint flag marches by the Haryana Police and paramilitary forces continued today, nine check-posts have also been put up at strategic points on the roads connecting Rohtak to other towns/villages. Apart from police personnel, BSF and RAF troops have also been deployed to man the check-posts and keep a strict vigil .

The district administration has earmarked the Sector 6 ground for staging dharna and demonstration in Rohtak.

Rohtak SP Shashank Anand said police personnel had been provided combat training and riot-control equipment like tear gas shells, rubber bullets, and anti-riot guns etc made available at all police stations in the district. Duty Magistrates had been appointed by the district administration in coordination with the police officials, he added.

The intelligence agencies had also been alerted to keep a close watch on the situation.

Paramilitary personnel carry out mock drill 

Companies of the Rapid Action Force, Haryana Armed Police and the Sonepat police on Tuesday carried out a mock drill here at the Police Lines. Duty magistrates also participated in it. KM Pandurang, DC, asked the security personnel to discharge their duty with honesty. "This time, the police teams have been provided with chilli bombs to disperse the crowd and ink bombs to establish the identity of the persons involved in violence," he said. OC

Depts directed to cancel leave of employees

Deputy Commissioner Chander Shekhar Khare has ordered to cancel the leave of all employees in every department in view of the Jat stir. He has also appointed 14 duty magistrates to take a stock of the situation and ADC Rajiv Mehta has been given the charge of a nodal officer. Khare said any move to block the roads or rail tracks would not be tolerated and officials would be responsible for such acts. He directed the police officials to check their anti-riots equipment and ammunitions. TNS

Police motivate villagers to maintain peace, harmony

Senior police officials have started visiting villages to motivate people to maintain peace and harmony in the district. SSP Rakesh Kumar Arya said: "Police officials are holding meetings with members of panchayats, village elders and youth and we are receiving overwhelming response from them." DSP Kulwant Bishnoi said: "Strict action will be taken against protesters if they try to disturb the social harmony or damage public and private property." OC
