Olympic bronze medallist wrestler Sakshi Malik was accorded a rousing welcome in Bahadurgarh of Jhajjar district today.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar along with Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu, Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar, Co-operative Minister Manish Grower and local MLA Naresh Kaushik were present to welcome the wrestler.

Khattar presented a cheque of Rs 2.5 crore to the wrestler and offered her a Class-II job in the state government. Sakshi has, however, sought time for taking the decision in this regard.

“We are ready to give Sakshi a Class-II job, but she has sought some time to consider the offer, as the Railways, where she is working at present, has also given her promotion,” said the Chief Minister.

He also said the government had decided to make her the brand ambassador of the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ mission.

The CM also announced to establish a sports nursery and a stadium at Sakshi’s native village Mokhra in Rohtak district. Kattar also honoured Sakshi’s two coaches — Kuldeep Malik and Mandeep Singh — by presenting them cheques of Rs 10 lakh each.

Speaking on the occasion, Sakshi said, “Keep supporting me, so that I can bring more medals for the nation.”
