Unison World School celebrated its 9th annual prize distribution function here on Saturday.

Kirron Kher, Indian film actress and Lok Sabha MP from Chandigarh, was the chief guest on the occasion. Arunima Sinha was the guest of honour.

The event commenced with the inauguration of the school exhibition by school principal Veena Singh. The exhibition displayed colourful models and charts made by students of the school.

This was followed by a magnificent cultural show staged by the students. The show began with the Indian fusion orchestra and was followed by a guitar ensemble and the school’s rock band performance.

The students presented the Ramayana as a musical drama. The girls successfully brought out the essence and message of the great epic with their ballet performance. Kirron Kher and Arunima Sinha gave away prizes to meritorious students.

The school’s annual report was presented by the principal. The school year book was released by Kirron Kher.

The MP spoke on women power and the important role they play in society. Arunima also spoke of the inner strength and support that she received from people around her. With these words of encouragement from the two personalities, the programme concluded.

School head girl Shivangi Gupta gave the valediction speech.

Arunima’s career as a national volleyball player was tragically terminated. However, she decided to scale the highest peaks of the world with a prosthetic leg and has successfully scaled six peaks of four continents and is all set to scale the next one in South America in December. Arunima is the first woman amputee as well as the first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest.
