e-auction of vanity numbers begins today

The e-auction of vanity numbers of vehicles of the CH 01 BG series will begin tomorrow.

An overwhelming response has been received from vehicle owners with more than 400 registering themselves for the e-auction.

An officer said the auction would start at 10 am tomorrow and continue till 5 pm on May 5.

The registration for the e-auction began on April 26 and closed today. The RLA had fixed Rs 500 as the registration fee. Despite some technical glitches, vehicle owners reportedly found the new registeration system convenient. After checking all documents such as the sale document and residence proof, the applicants were allotted UAN numbers, a login ID and a password through the SMS and email. Now, only those registered with the department can bid for a maximum of five registration numbers of their choice per UAN per vehicle. The numbers will be allocated to the highest bidders in each category. The successful bidder is required to get the vehicle registered as well as to deposit the balance bid amount within a month from the date of the auction.
