Ensure free, fair nomination process: DM tells officials

MUSSOORIE: Ashish Shrivastava, District Magistrate, Uttarkashi, today directed returning officers and other government employees to ensure free and fair nomination process for the Yamnotri, Gangotri and Purola Assembly seats.

Ashish Shrivastava, District Magistrate, Uttarkashi, today directed returning officers and other government employees to ensure free and fair nomination process for the Yamnotri, Gangotri and Purola Assembly seats.

Shrivastava directed the officials to be present at their designated polling booths and deploy other colleague to ensure hassle free nomination process. He informed mediapersons that the nomination forms would be available from January 20 and officials should ensure that the serial number of each form was duly noted. He also directed returning officers to go through the election handbook thoroughly.

The national parties candidates are required to bring four proposers and the independent candidates are required to bring 10 proposers. Two proposers would be present in the office of returning officers. The nomination process will not be conducted on Saturday, Sunday and state holidays. He said January 27 would be last date for filing nomination. The scrutiny of the papers will be done on January 30 and February 1 is the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers. The returning officers should be prepared with all necessary documents and officials should ensure that the names with clarity along with photograph of the candidates are published on the ballot paper.
