Twentytwo-year-old Jagdish (renamed as Bharti after becoming enunch), who hails from a poor Dalit family of Batala (Punjab), submitted his written complaint last evening to the Nurpur DSP demanding justice for him and strict action against the accused so that others did not fall into their trap.

In his complaint, he said when he was just 14 years old and was in search of work, he met a eunuch, Manju Mahant of Gangath town under Nurpur police station. He was kept by Manju for cooking food and domestic works.

He said after one year, he was taken to Andhra Pradesh where he was given some eatables laced with sedatives and later his private parts were chopped off after administering him an injection in the backbone. He said he was physically and mentally tortured by Manju who forced him to work as a eunuch with him. He said he had worked as a eunuch for seven years and money collected during that period had been snatched by Manju. In his complaint, he had mentioned the names of five more eunuchs who were also involved in this conspiracy.

Accompanied by his brother Bakshi Singh and another eunuch Jassi Mahant, Jagdish, alias Bharti, told mediapersons that his life had been spoiled. He sought strict action against the conspirators who had spoiled his life.

In this connection, DSP Navdeep Singh said he had received a written complaint from Jagdish and deputed an inquiry officer for conducting preliminary investigations into the allegations. He said an FIR would be registered after these investigations and action would be taken against the culprits as per law.

Meanwhile, Lekh Raj, state general secretary of the Bahujan Samaj Party, said such gangs were active in the state and forcing poor and destitute children to become eunuchs.
