Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar met yoga guru Ramdev at the Patanjali Yogpeeth Ashram here today.

Khattar expressed desire to make Haryana a hub of yoga and ayurveda. Both held talks on propagating ancient health and medical arts of yoga and ayurveda in Haryana. Khattar said in every village a yogshala and a vyayhamshala having specialised yoga trainers and teachers would be opened.

He sought cooperation from Ramdev in providing basic training in yoga and ayurveda to Haryana schoolteachers, physical training instructors, anganwadi workers and volunteers.

“Haryana can be developed as the yoga capital of India and we need the support of Patanjali Yogpeeth to achieve this objective. Ramdev and ayurveda expert Acharya Balkrishan have accepted our request to become mentors in this regard,” Khattar said.

The Haryana Chief Minister also lauded Patanjali Yogpeeth for carrying forward the ancient legacy of yoga and ayurveda. “The Haryana government is committed to linking this ancient legacy with daily lives of the people of the state. This will pave the way for progress of people,” he said.

Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma proposed an international-level university based on yoga and ayurveda and Sanskrit in Haryana for which he sought support from Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishan, who assured him of all help.
