Lawyer moves court for loan recovery from MPs, MLAs

YAMUNANAGAR: A Jagadhri advocate has filed a suit in the court of Geetanjali Goyal, Civil Judge (Junior Division), Jagadhri, for the recovery of due loan from Haryana’s MPs, MLAs and ministers.

A Jagadhri advocate has filed a suit in the court of Geetanjali Goyal, Civil Judge (Junior Division), Jagadhri, for the recovery of due loan from Haryana’s MPs, MLAs and ministers.

GD Gupta, a member of the District Bar Association, had filed the suit recently after obtaining the required information under the RTI from the Haryana Secretariat.

“Rs 1.47 crore is outstanding against Haryana’s 43 former and present MPs, MLAs and ministers on the account of house building advance. Rs 26.23 lakh is outstanding on the account of motor vehicle advance taken by 34 public representatives,” said Gupta.

He said the loan was granted to the representatives at 4 per cent interest. They didn’t bother to return the money probably due to the low interest rate.

“I have filed a suit in public interest against the state government and urged the court to direct the respondents to recover the aforesaid amount at penal interest,” said Gupta.

He said the court had issued summons to the respondents to appear on October 18.
