Mohali, December 23

For 26-year old local bodybuilder Kiratpal Singh, pumping the iron is not only a mere display of power but also a habit to hit the snooze button and achieve the best.

A resident of Chappar Chiri in Mohali district and a gold medallist in 11 bodybuilding competitions, he is all set to take part in the upcoming Mr North India Championship to be held in Jaipur on December 28.

A well-known face of the Punjab Amateur Bodybuilding Association, Kiratpal said: “I am preparing hard for the upcoming event as it is an ideal climate to shape and tone up the body. The championship is not going to be easy. Hence, I am making efforts for standing tall in front of my opponents.”

Earlier also, he bagged many titles, including Mr Chandigarh and Mr Mohali.

He finished with a silver medal in the Mr Punjab Championship while attained a bronze medal in the Federation Cup held in Mumbai earlier this year.

“All these competitions benefited me a lot and helped me to make my stand in the world of bodybuilding. To start a career, these tournaments are quite important and with the grace of God, so far, I have impressed jury members. Hopefully, I get some good news in Jaipur,” said Kiratpal.

When asked about his next goal, the bodybuilder of heavyweight category said: “My next aim will be to attain a podium finish in the Mr India Championship to be held in March 2015. I know it’s not easy but I am putting my best. Bodybuilding also needs concentration and dedication, and I am focusing on these.”

He started trying his hand at bodybuilding at the age of 17. Gradually, he started gym sessions to reduce his weight. However, with the passage of time, bodybuilding became his profession and passion. “Gradually, I started bodybuilding for fun but now it is my passion. Hopefully, I will bag laurels and carry forward my form,” said Kiratpal.
