Haridwar, April 27

Firebrand Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sadhvi Prachi yesterday said the earthquake in Nepal came after the bad omen of pilgrimage to the Shri Kedarnath shrine on April 24 by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

Attending a two-day saint convention here, Sadhvi Prachi said the last time Rahul Gandhi had visited Uttarakhand, a flash flood had occurred, while on his second visit, the earthquake struck.

“This is due to the visit of Rahul Gandhi, who is a non-vegetarian. He did not take holy Ganga dip. He should have first purified himself. This disaster in Nepal and northern India is due to Rahul’s visit,” said Sadhvi Prachi.

Former Cabinet Minister and noted economist Subramanian Swami also addressed the concluding session of ‘Dharam Sansad’ in Haridwar amid presence of a large number of saints.

Kashi Sumeru Peethadeeshwar Jagad Guru Shankaracharya Swami Narendranand Saraswati pointed out that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government came to power owing to a large number of votes cast by Hindus to it in hope of the government taking nationalistic steps, but in the past 11 months, the government has not lived up to the voters’ expectations.

Jagad Guru Shankaracharya Swami Narendranand Saraswati urged the Centre to take stern measures to protect Sanatan Dharma and interests of nationalists.

Juna Akhada national general secretary Swami Narayan Giri demanded a stringent law for population control as without it, economic and social development is getting affected.

Swami Narayan Giri added that for this, a mass consensus needs to be arrived at, for which, the Central Government and all political parties should take initiative.

Coordinator of the convention Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, Virat Hindustan Sangam Uttarakhand unit president Dr Varun Veer, Dr Chetna Sharma, Vikram Singh, Swami Pragyanand, Dr Charu Dutt Pingal, Sandeep Ahuja, Dr Mahesh Singh, RP Sharma, Gopal Rahi, Swami Brahmanand, Swami Vivekanand Brahmachari, Swami Avdhoot, Mahant Narayan Giri, Hari Om Giri and Rasanand, among others, took part.
