Dr TS Thind, Adjunct Professor and former Additional Director of Research, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been honoured with ‘YL Nene Outstanding Plant Pathology Teacher Award 2016’ by the Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology.

The award was presented to Dr Thind during the national symposium on ‘Challenges towards Plant Health under Changing Climate Scenario for Sustainable Agriculture’  and annual meeting of the society, held recently at Bidhan Chandra Agricultural University, Kalyani, West Bengal.

Instituted in 1995, this is a lifetime achievement award given to the superannuated scientists for their significant contributions to the plant pathology. Dr Thind is known for his research on rational and need-based use of fungicides using disease epidemiological parameters. He is a pioneer in the field of fungicide resistance in India. He has developed technologies for successful control of several economically important plant diseases. He has also developed decision support systems for their timely management.
