Harsh Mahajan predicts Cong win in 2017

CHAMBA: Former Cabinet minister and Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank chairman Harsh Mahajan has predicted that the Virbhadra Singh-led Congress government in the state would be re-elected in the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2017 keeping in view the faith the people had in the leaderships.

Former Cabinet minister and Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank chairman Harsh Mahajan has predicted that the Virbhadra Singh-led Congress government in the state would be re-elected in the next Assembly elections scheduled for 2017 keeping in view the faith the people had in the leaderships.

Addressing a public meeting on the premises of local Circuit House here today, Harsh Mahajan said that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was a ‘leader of the masses’ who always listened to the grievances of the public and resolved these for their wellbeing irrespective of any discrimination of region, religion or caste.

The veteran Congress leader, who returned to Chamba after a long period, said though was stationed at the state capital Shimla during this period, he always remained in touch with the people of Chamba and continued to work for their welfare.

“Serving the poor and the sick has always been my priority”, Mahajan said. A lot of development works had been carried out by the ruling Congress government and several schemes had been implemented for the livelihood and uplift of the people under the regime of the Virbhadra Singh government, he said.

Earlier, Harsh Mahajan was accorded a rousing fanfare on his way from Tunnuhatti, the entry point of Chamba district to the district headquarter town of Chamba. A huge number of people of Chamba garlanded him and presented him bouquets.

Deputy Commissioner of Chamba M Sudha Devi, Additional District Magistrate Subh Karan Singh and other officials of the district administration also welcomed him to Chamba.
