The 12th Uttarakhand Masters Athletics Meet was organised by the Uttarakhand Masters Athletics Association here today at Maharana Pratap Sports College. Senior players of the ONGC, Uttarakhand Police, ITBP and different districts participated in the event.
The participants took part in long jump, discus throw, shot put, 100 metre race and 3,000 metre walk events. In 100 metre race, Dayal Chand of the Uttarakhand Police won the first place in 35+ category. In 40+ category, Yogender Dev (Uttarakhand Police) and 55+ category, SC Chauhan (ONGC) won the race. In 200 m 35+ category, Sushil Badola (ONGC) and 50+ category, Rajan Singh (OLF) won the race. In 800 m 35+ category, Dina Nath (IMA), 40+ category, Pawan Negi (ONGC) and 45+ category, Jahid Husain (ITBP) won their races.
In long jump, Mahipal Singh (Uttarakhand Police) and Pawan Negi (ONGC) won in 35+ and 40+ category respectively. In shot put 80+ category, BS Martolia (ITBP) and 45+ category, Shyam Kishore (Uttarakhand Police) won. In javelin throw 45+ category, Sanjeev Kumar (Haridwar) won.
In women’s section, Poonam Pal and Poornima Sharmna won in 35+ and 55+ long jump event. In 3,000 m walk 40+ category, Reeta Rawat and 55+ category, Manjeet Sharma won. In shot put 40+ category, Archna Bisht and 45+ category, Sangeeta Kothari won.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Rajeev Jain, Media co-ordinater of the Chief Minister. SK Sarki, Gurphool Singh, Praveen Jolly and M Anand were also present during the opening ceremony.
