Dehradun, December 4

Employees of Uttarkhand Poorva Sainik Nigam Limited (UPNL) held a protest rally to the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun yesterday.

The employees had skirmishes with the police who stopped them near Abhishek Tower from proceeding towards the Chief Minister’s house. They staged a dharna on the spot and the police arrested some of them and released them subsequently.

UPNL Employees Association president Bhawesh Jagudi said the state government had done grave injustice with the UPNL staff. Several employees working in various departments had been removed without any reason. The employees had played an important role in the development of Uttarakhand and many were even deployed with the State Disaster Response Force and worked with utmost sincerity and dedication for relief and rehabilitation in Kedarnath, he added.

Mahesh Bhatt, Deepak Chauhan, Naresh Shah, Karan Rawat, Vipin Negi, Manoj Semwal and Sunil Singh took part in the protest.
