Yamunanagar, November 18

The historical five-day Kapal Mochan mela in Bilaspur will be opened by Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner Girish Arora here on Monday.

The mela will come to an end on November 23. Around eight lakh pilgrims from Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan are expected in the mela this year.

Bilaspur SDM-cum-mela administrator Naveen Ahuja said adequate arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the event.

He said the entire area had been divided into four sectors, where enough security arrangements had been made for the safety of pilgrims.

He further said special arrangements had been made to keep the mela premises clean.

Besides, the pilgrims would get potable water and other basic facilities, including medical service.

“Clean water has been filled in the sacred sarovars — Kapal Mochan, Rin Mochan and Suraj Kund — where pilgrims take holy dip on the occasion of Kartik Purnima to attain moksha,” Ahuja said.

He said after a dip at the Kapal Mochan sarovar, a number of pilgrims visited Adi Badri for a dip in Sarasvati sarovar and praying at Mantra Devi, Adibadri Narayan and Kedarnath temples.

He said divers had been deputed at all three sarovars, besides stationing boats at each one of them.

“Special arrangements of roadways buses have also been made to ferry passengers from Yamunanagar’s railway station and bus stands of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri to the mela venue,” Ahuja added.
