BJP leaders ‘backing’ Kaprivaas covertly

Randhir Kaprivaas, a BJP rebel who is in fray as an Independent candidate, is giving a stiff competition to both BJP and Congress candidates in Rewari. His rallies are generating a good response.

Kaprivaas is the sitting legislator from Rewari.

The Congress has fielded Chiranjeev Rao, son of former minister Capt Ajay Yadav, while the BJP has given ticket to Sunil Yadav Musepur, a loyalist of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh. Both are newcomers in the poll battle.

Sources say local BJP leaders, who belong to anti-Rao-Inderjit faction or are disgruntled after being denied the ticket, are likely to support Kaprivaas covertly to ensure Musepur’s defeat.

They are keeping a distance from Musepur’s campaign. This can upset BJP’s apple cart.

“The BJP has pitted a ‘parachute candidate’ at the behest of Rao Inderjit, resulting in resentment among local party leaders. They are backing Kaprivaas covertly His candidature will benefit the Congress,” said Naresh Chauhan, a political analyst.

Another political observer Ishwar Yadav, “Kaprivaas is getting good support. The BJP has fielded a candidate who has no political base in the constituency and is dependent on Rao Inderjit.”
