Now on, Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will not acquire land for developing residential sectors. Under the Land Pooling Policy: 2018 approved by the Haryana today, all future residential sectors will be developed on land pooled by owners.

Once developed, almost one-third of residential plots will go to the owners in proportion to the land pooled; one third will be sold by HUDA and the rest used for community services.

“The aim is to meet development objectives in an all-inclusive manner where landowners willingly part with their land,” said J Ganesan, Chief Administrator, HUDA. Sources say that land being difficult to get, particularly after the enactment of Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2015, the government decided to bring in this policy.  If at least 70 per cent of landowners agree to pool their land, which is contiguous, the government will go ahead with developing a residential sector. Till HUDA allots them residential plots, the farmers will be paid Rs 50,000 per annum per acre as subsistence allowance.
