In a major success against the rampant illegal arms trade in Gurugram, the Crime Branch nabbed an arms manufacturer and supplier with seven guns. The accused, identified as Ummar (35) and hailing from Bharatpur in Rajasthan, would produce weapons back home and sell them in Mewat, Rajasthan, and some areas of NCR.

Inspired by various gangster movies, Ummar took to arms trade six years ago and sold 700 handmade weapons. The police have taken him on a two-day police remand after producing him in a city court today.

During preliminary investigation, he told the police that he ran an illegal weapon factory at a hill outside his village. Father of seven children, he said he sold an illegal weapon like the .315 bore country-made pistol and .12 bore single barrel gun anywhere between Rs 2,500 to 7,000 while the manufacturing cost was somewhere around Rs 400 only.
