A one-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped here on Monday. She was found 3 km from her home in an unconscious state, bleeding profusely.

She went missing from her home while playing and was recovered bleeding profusely in an unconscious state late last night. The police have recovered the CCTV footage of the entire area and carried out a search operation for six hours, but failed to get any leads.

The medical examination has not confirmed rape, but the report says “rape cannot be ruled out”. A case has been registered under Section 6 of the POCSO Act against an unidentified man. According to police, the victim’s parents are daily-wage labourers. They were away when the girl was allegedly abducted. When the parents returned home from work on Monday, they found her missing.

“After searching for several hours, we went to the police. The cops informed us of an abandoned child in a park,” said the victim’s mother in her complaint. Sources claim the police questioned hawkers and shopkeepers for hours, but nobody admitted to witnessing the girl being abducted.
