7 held for illicit felling of trees

MANDI:Seven persons have been arrested for illicit felling of deodar trees in the Shkiari forest area of the Banjar Assembly segment.

Seven persons have been arrested for illicit felling of deodar trees in the Shkiari forest area of the Banjar Assembly segment. 

The accused have been identified as Chaman Lal, Ramesh, Dhyan Singh, Chander, Tara Chand, Amir Chand and Navik Kumar, all residents of the Banjar area. They were involved in the illegal trade of forest produce.

 Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Banjar, Praveen Thakur said acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted in the Shikari forest area on Saturday and seven persons were arrested while illegally cutting deodar trees.  He said they had already informed the police in this regard, which helped nab the accused.
