No other candidate had filed nomination papers for this post. According to information, the previous vice-president was removed by four  of the six nominated  members on November 24, as they  had expressed no confidence in him. The board has six elected members. Today’s meeting was attended by five of them, besides two nominated members — the Brigadier, Kasauli Cantonment, and the Chief Executive Officer.  Gupta, who has held the position twice in the past, said his priority would be to speed up key development works such as the construction of a multi-level parking, augmenting potable water for the town and improving roads and  toilets.
