Leopard strays into Nabha, Phagli

A leopard has been spotted in the vicinity of Nabha and Phagli. I have urged people to remain calm, but cautious. I have also urged the public to keep children and pets inside after 7 pm and preferably travel in groups as a precautionary measure. The Department of Wildlife has been informed and has deputed rangers to catch the leopard. However, the general public must exercise all precautions so as to avoid any untoward incident.

Dhalli bus stand turns a dumping site

Garbage strewn all around the Dhalli bus stand in Shimla shows how non-serious people are when it comes to implementing the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. One can see an old motorcycle rusting at the place, but nobody is bothered to remove it. Benches meant for sitting are covered under garbage and passengers have to bear the stink while waiting for buses. Cleanliness drives are undertaken only during the visit of some VIP. Area councillors don’t bother to redress the grievances or get the problem resolved.

Stray dogs a problem with no solution

The number of stray dogs in Dharamsala has increased. There are about 300 stray dogs in the city. The animals have led to a number of mishaps in the past. They chase two-wheelers, which may prove fatal for riders. In many colonies, the consistent barking of dogs makes it difficult for residents to sleep. The Municipal Corporation, Dharamsala, should do something about the problem. Some dogs turn rabid, posing a threat to locals.

Mini-Secretariat faces neglect

The Mini-Secretariat is the most important building of the district, which houses administrative and other offices, including that of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Sub-divisional Magistrate. It also has the e-Governance Centre and District Treasury Office. But the renovation of the building, which was started about over two years ago, is going on a snail’s pace. The corridors of the building look like  scrap stores. The exteriors of the building also look shabby, with wild growth dotting the structure. Attention of the district administration is expected to make this most important building beautiful and clean as well.
