Jalandhar youths’ car skids into river at Manikaran

KULLU: A youth (20), died and another was washed away, while three were injured as the car (PB-02W-0069), carrying pilgrims from Jalandhar, fell into the Parbati river near the Shangna bridge on the Manikaran-Barshaini road in this district today.

KULLU, November 20

A youth (20), died and another was washed away, while three were injured as the car (PB-02W-0069), carrying pilgrims from Jalandhar, fell into the Parbati river near the Shangna bridge on the Manikaran-Barshaini road in this district today.

The youths arrived yesterday at Manikaran and were leaving for Tosh village this afternoon when the ill-fated vehicle met with an accident. Kullu ASP Nishchint Singh Negi said the driver lost control on the vehicle and the car plunged into the Parbati.

He said the body of Sarvjeet Singh Narang was recovered from the river while the driver Gurpreet Singh was still missing. Even the vehicle had not been traced.

The ASP said Jasveer Singh Bhupray (18), Ram Ahuja (20) and Satyam Kashyap (17) were injured and admitted to a Kullu hospital after being provided first-aid in Community Health Centre at Manikaran. The hospital authorities said the condition of the injured was stable.

He said police personnel as well as a rescue team had been pressed into action, however, the car and the missing victim were not traced till the filing of this report. The ASP added that further investigations were under way.
