Legislature must step in for Ram temple if judiciary fails, says VHP leader Kokje

“Intervention of legislature is inevitable if the judiciary fails to decide Ram temple issue and Hindus should assert more to mount pressure on all concerned so that no one can oppose construction of a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya”, international president of VHP and former Himachal Governor VS Kokje today said.

There are certain matters in which no one, not even the court, can interfere and the VHP has launched a vigorous campaign for awakening the Hindus on the direction of saints for putting pressure on the union government to enact a law to pave way for construction of temple at Ayodhya. The decision in this regard was taken by saints (VHP marg Dakshak) who met on October 5 last, he said on the sidelines of “Shankhnaad” rally organised by the VHP at Chaura Maidan here.

For long, silence of Hindus was considered as their weakness but during the past two years they have started asserting themselves.

“We were pinning hopes on the Supreme Court that it would decide the issue. Former Chief Justice of India Deepak Mishra retired without giving any judgement, forcing the VHP to start a vigorous awareness campaign to build pressure on the government”, he said.

When asked whether the court was biased against Hindus, Kokje said, “We have no reason to believe this but the present lot of judges have secular education and have no idea of real Hinduism and its ethos and are not sufficiently informed on it”. The Supreme Court verdict in Sabrimala temple case is a glaring example of it wherein it led to huge public outcry, he added.

Rejecting the charge that the Ram Temple movement was politically motivated, he said that the movement was going on since 1984. “Many elections have been held during the intervening period. It might be political issue for political parties but not for us as it is a matter of faith and emotional issue for Hindus”, he said.

Later, addressing Shankhnaad rally, he called upon Hindus to assert more for construction of the temple.
