ONGC explores possibility of natural oil, gas in Nurpur

NURPUR: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has been conducting underground survey for the past few days to explore the possibility of presence of oil and natural gas from Kangra to Nurpur.

The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has been conducting underground survey for the past few days to explore the possibility of presence of oil and natural gas from Kangra to Nurpur.

Before leaving for neighbouring states of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir, ONGC’s service provider Alfa Zeo India Ltd conducted a survey based on Global Positioning System (GPS) at Tanan village near here. Photographs and locations were being procured from the satellite through GPS in the survey.

TC Upadhaya, the project manager of the survey company, said the ONGC was undertaking seismic survey in 172-km area covering in Kangra district, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Sensors were being installed by drilling the earth in the area to explore the possibility of oil and natural gas. “So far, 50-km area from Kangra to Nurpur has been covered under the ongoing survey and the final report will be submitted to the ONGC,” he stated.
