Taking a serious note over collecting and dumping solid waste in an unscientific manner by the Baddi Municipal Council and Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority (BBNDA), the High Court today sought response from both authorities and directed them to file reports within four weeks.

The court passed this order after perusing a report submitted by the senior environmental engineer of the HP Pollution Control Board in compliance with the order passed by the court. The court observed: “From the contents of the report, it prima facie appears that the Municipal Council, Baddi as well as Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Aurhority has failed to perform their duties regarding the collection of solid waste and its dumping in a scientific manner at the MSW disposal site at Kenduwal for which the clearance has been granted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests.”

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel passed this order on a petition filed by Suleman in public interest on the issue of improper and unscientific dumping of solid/toxic/sewage waste at the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial area.
