SRINAGAR: Kin of the 2010 unrest victims on Tuesday alleged that the recommendations of the Koul Commission of Inquiry had not been implemented by the authorities to date.

Kin of the 2010 unrest victims on Tuesday alleged that the recommendations of the Koul Commission of Inquiry had not been implemented by the authorities to date.

Demanding justice, the kith and kin of the victims on Tuesday protested at Srinagar Press Enclave, urging the authorities to implement the the Koul panel suggestions.

“My brother Ghulam Rasool Bhat was killed on September 17, 2010. The Koul Commission of Inquiry had recommended compassionate appointments in 52 cases in the favour of the nearest of kin of the victims. But not a single recommendation has been implemented to date,” said the victim’s brother.

A one-man judicial commission was appointed on June 19, 2014, by then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, which submitted a 320-page report to the government in January 2017 with many suggestions.

Another protesting parent Farooq Ahmad from Soura, said even after the passage of over nine years, no investigation had been conducted into the killing of his son Omar Qayoom. — TNS
