Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s brother Tassduq Hussain Mufti resigned from the position of Coordinator J&K Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell on Friday.

The decision seems to have been taken in run-up to the growing speculations of his induction into Mufti’s state cabinet as tourism minister.

Tassaduq joined the PDP last year on the first death anniversary of his father, former chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.

Sources said Tassduq would be nominated to J&K Legislative Council into a seat that was vacated by Vikramaditya Singh, the grandson of the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh, who resigned from the PDP and the Legislative Council.

Tassduq’s induction comes less than 10 days after Mehbooba Mufti was reelected the party’s president for the sixth term, and appears to be a move to consolidate her position further.
