Rajouri, March 24

The police have booked 52 persons for delay in depositing their licensed weapons with police stations in view of the Election Commission guidelines in this regard.

On March 1, District Magistrate MA Asad had issued an order to deposit licensed weapons in the police stations concerned in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.

“A majority of licensed weapons were deposited but 52 persons didn’t pay attention to the order even after several reminders were issued by the police stations concerned across the district,” said Yougal Manhas, SSP. He said cases under Section 188 (disobedience of order) of the Ranbir Penal Code, and Sections 21, 25 and 30 of the Arms Act have been registered against the violators. — OC
