Sepoy Pawan Singh Sugra (21) of Kumaon Regiment was killed in firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of J&K this afternoon. 

“Pakistan troops initiated unprovoked firing on Indian Army posts in Krishnagati sector around 2.50 pm today,” an Army officer said. In the firing, Sepoy Sugra was grievously injured. He succumbed to his injuries later. The deceased belonged to a village in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

Besides resorting to heavy mortar shelling on forward posts, Pakistani troops have been using sniper rifles to target Indian soldiers manning observation forward posts at the LoC. Earlier, Rifleman Jayadrath Singh of UP, manning a forward post in Bhatal sector in Rajouri, and Lance Naik Mohammad Naseer of Poonch were killed likewise. — TNS
