‘Heritage walk’ to mark Parkash Purb on Nov 3

JALANDHAR: To make the masses aware of the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev during the ongoing 550th Gurpurb celebrations, the Punjab Government will organise a ‘heritage walk’ on November 3 at Sultanpur Lodhi.

To make the masses aware of the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev during the ongoing 550th Gurpurb celebrations, the Punjab Government will organise a ‘heritage walk’ on November 3 at Sultanpur Lodhi.

The first-of-its kind walk in the city, which will be organised by the Information and Public Relations Department of the district administration and Patiala Foundation, will spread the message of heritage’s preservation, clean and eco-friendly environment.

Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda said the walk would start from Shaheed Udham Singh Chowk on the Kapurthala-Sultanpur Lodhi road and after covering historic shrines, it would conclude at Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib.

He said historian would inform the devotees about the history of every gurdwara, besides educating them about the importance of Guru Nanak Dev’s teaching in the modern day life to save the environment.

The Deputy Commissioner said keeping in view of a large number of participants, the administration had made adequate arrangements for security, traffic management and langar at various places on the route.

Appealing to the people to participate in large numbers, the Deputy Commissioner said volunteers of Patiala Foundation, college students and representatives of religious and social organisations would participate in the walk.
