Man on morning walk dies

Phagwara: A villager, identified as Gurmit Singh (70), fell in a drain and died on the spot at Jagatpur Jattan village near here on Sunday. He was on his morning walk. The police registered a case and handed over the body to the man’s family after conducting the autopsy at the local Civil Hospital. OC

Hit by vehicle, pedestrian killed

Phagwara: An unidentified pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a speeding vehicle near Rihana Jattan village on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road on Sunday. The police have registered a case against an unknown vehicle driver and kept the body in the mortuary for identification after conducting the postmortem at the local Civil Hospital. OC

Purse snatched from NRI woman

Phagwara: Two motorcycle-borne unidentified robbers snatched a purse containing 350 Canadian dollars, Rs 3,500, a gold ring, a bangle, an ATM card and valuables from NRI woman Sumitra Devi of the Shiv Puri locality when she was going to market for shopping. The police have registered a case. OC

Minor abducted

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Uttar Pradesh resident Naryan, the police here have registered a case under Section 363/366-A of the IPC against Nasirabad resident Rajiv Kumar on the charges of abducting the minor daughter of the complainant. He alleged that the accused had abducted his daughter on the promise of marriage. OC
