To mark the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev, District Sports Officer Balwinder Singh inaugurated a kabaddi tournament at Sports Complex, Malsian in Shahkot subdivision today.
The tournaments are being held in U-14, 18 and 25 for boys and girls category.
He said: “Similar tournaments will commence at Government High School, Patara; Government High School, Sarai Khas; Arya School, Nakodar on July 19 and July 20 and DAV Public School Senior Secondary School, Phillaur, on July 20.”
Balwinder Singh asked the players to participate in the mega event in a big way.
He said special focus was being laid on the grooming of the players through such camps so that they could excel in sports at the national and international level. He said every effort was being made to ensure the holistic development of players so that they could compete with their peers across the globe, adding that no stone would be left unturned to make the state a hub of sports in the country.
