Kuldeep Kumar, sarpanch of Boda village, and his three aides have been booked by the Mehtiana police on the charge of duping Kamaljeet Singh of Rs 10,000 in Attowal village. The fraud came to the fore when the CCTV footage of Kamaljeet Singh’s house went viral two days ago.

When the photo grab from the CCTV footage surfaced on the social media, it came to light that the accused was the sarpanch of Boda village in Garhshankar. Later, Kamaljeet complained to the police about the matter, after which the police checked the CCTV footage.

After looking into the matter the police made it clear that the accused was sarpanch Kuldeep Kumar and his aides Rakesh Kumar and Vishal Kumar, both residents of Boda village and Ashok Kumar, a resident of Mohalla Bhagat Nagar, Model Town, Hoshiarpur.

The police have filed a case under FIR No 81 under Section 419 and 420 against the accused.

Sarpanch Kuldeep Kumar, along with his three companions, reached the house of Kamaljeet Singh, in a car while Kamaljeet Singh was serving at a Gurudwara.

Kamaljeet Singh received a call that his relatives have come to his residence. When Kamaljeet reached home, Kuldeep Singh introduced himself as Charanjit Singh, a resident of Ahirana Jattan village.

He said: He has been residing in Hoshiarpur and has came from England, adding that he knows his son living abroad, adding that he’s a social worker and has come here to give Rs 1 lakh for a poor girl’s marriage. He asked him to give Rs 51,000 for the marriage of the girl.”

On this, Kamaljeet Singh said he could give only Rs 10,000 that too he has to bring from bank. After this, the accused, Kamaljeet Singh went with him on his scooter and his aides followed him in the car. The sarpanch and his companions left from there taking Rs 10,000 from him.

Later Kamaljeet went suspicious of it. He investigated the matter on his own and complained to the police. CCTV footage revealed the fraud by sarpanch and his companions.

“The photograph and video of the CCTV footage became viral and we got the information that the accused are Sarpanch Kuldeep Kumar Boda and his three companions. After this, we have filed an FIR. All four accused were called to the police station to investigate the matter,” said the police.

Kamaljeet said: “The police informed us that they have nabbed the accused. I had been to the police station and recognised them. Some people approached me to make a compromise with the accused. But I have clearly denied that there can be no compromise with such people.”
