Rs 2.69-lakh fine imposed on 26 food outlets

NAWANSHAHR: The court of Amrit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), who is also the adjudicating officer of SBS Nagar, has imposed a fine of Rs 2.69 lakh on 26 food outlets for allegedly selling sub-standard or misbranded food items.

The court of Amrit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), who is also the adjudicating officer of SBS Nagar, has imposed a fine of Rs 2.69 lakh on 26 food outlets for allegedly selling sub-standard or misbranded food items. 

These outlets are accused of not maintaining hygienic conditions. Assistant Commissioner (Food) Manoj Khosla said food safety officers Rakhi Vinayak and Sangeeta Sehdev had collected samples from various outlets, which were declared sub-standard or misbranded after lab test. 

Besides, eight meat shops were also challaned for not maintaining hygienic conditions, following food safety rules and regulations. 

All cases were filed in the court of Amrit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General).

Khosla added that under the Tandarust Punjab Mission, a drive to curb the adulteration in food items was going on.
