New Year’s Eve may be the last but it is the most happening evening of the year. Not only we bid goodbye to a year well spent and celebrate achievements but also welcome the coming year. Here’s how to put your best foot forward while ushering in the New Year…

Ritika, from the label Gaurav & Ritika, feels you should dress up according to the theme of the party. For club hoppers, she strongly recommends the metallics. “Let the Rihana in you be out in a metallic dress or a jacket with fringes in tow.”

Gone are the days when girls would wear short clothes even on a New Year’s party, points out Ritika. “If dancing is on the cards, go for clothes that have a bounce in them. A skater dress, short on the front and little longer at back, works wonderfully well if you are dancing.”

Dress selected, it’s now turn for the accessories. “Fusion kind of jewellery like a pair of kundan earrings or a zardosi clutch would make you stand out from the crowd,” says Ritika making a strong case for Outhouse, a super cool label for accessories.

For the ones going for their favoutite concert, Ritika is all for long boots. “Finally, India offers a good collection of boots, so make the most of it, if you plan to be outdoors.” As for party revellers in Goa, she says, “Just go wild.”

Designer Priyanka Khosla is all for cocktail dresses this party season. “While bodycons are meant for those with that perfect figure, shift dresses would suit all age groups and shapes.” As for the colours, she makes a strong recommendation for red.

“Classic black stays, but red looks so perfect for the occasion.” Then there is the shimmer. “If you can carry a shimmering dress, it would be great. Or, you can have a shimmering top over trousers, or shimmering pants with a plain top. Or, at least a clutch,” says Priyanka.

If dress is not your style, you can choose the number of styles available right from fancy tights or trouser with a flare. “Just team them up right.”

Skirt is what Mini, from Bling, vouches for. “Asymmetrical ones or the circular skirts are just right for a party. Team them up with polo necks and make the ensemble live up with a scarf,” says Mini. For colours, she recommends wine, plum and bottle green. “Layering could just do the trick. It makes you look great and keeps one warm too.”

Rashi Setia, who is into designing scarves, is all for bit of Swarovski, more of a lace scarf to lift up any look.
