Aman, Anmolpreet steer Gill school to victory

LUDHIANA: Government High School, Sherpur, and BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point branch, emerged winners in the girls’ and boys’ sections, respectively, in the 19th Sub-Junior Ludhiana District Softball Championship held here on Sunday.

Government High School, Sherpur, and BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point branch, emerged winners in the girls’ and boys’ sections, respectively, in the 19th Sub-Junior Ludhiana District Softball Championship held here on Sunday.

In girls’ final, Government High School, Sherpur, got the better of BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point branch, 3-1, to lift the winners’ trophy.

Kajal, Pooja and Soni accounted for one run each for the winning side, while the lone scorer for the losing side was Sabina.

In the hard-line cup match, Government Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Gill village, routed Nankana Model High School (10-0), in which Aman and Anmolpreet chipped in with two runs each to steer their side to a comfortable victory.

In boys’ section, BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point, prevailed over Government High School, Sherpur, 6-4, to romp home champions.

For the winners, Mohit scored 2 runs, while Prince, Dipender, Anuj and Narinder contributed one run each to help their team wrap up the title, whereas Sonu, Anuj, Karan and Rahul reduced the margin for the losing side.

In the match to decide the third position, DAV Public School outperformed Government Senior Secondary School, Gill village, 12-2. Lakshay, Ramit and Jai Pal were the main contributors for the winning side. They scored two runs each, while Rajinder was the lone scorer for Gill school.

Pran Nath Passi, honorary general secretary, Punjab Softball Association, gave away prizes to the winners. The office-bearers of the Ludhiana District Softball Association and coaches were present on the occasion.
