Ludhiana, December 6

To promote lane driving in the city, the traffic police have got dividers placed at the Bharat Nagar Chowk. Earlier, traffic movement used to come to a standstill in the middle of a slip-way.

The police said some commuters used to halt their vehicle out of lane at the Bharat Nagar Chowk due to which traffic jams occur.

ACP Traffic Gurdev Singh said, “We have got the dividers installed to ensure vehicles move within a lane. The dividers will help to ease the traffic.”

He said they were trying their best to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city. Earlier, the traffic cones were placed to stop commuters from taking U-turn in a wrong manner at the Southern bypass near Jawaddi.

It is pertinent to mention that the city-based NGOs have also asked the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation to ensure proper zebra crossings at various intersections so that pedestrians can cross the roads safely.
